Nilesh & Neetu

How did the team get into owning a franchise?

Nilesh and his wife Neetu joined Mr Green in December 2021. They got into their franchise through purchasing a business from a long term Mr Green franchisee. This particular business was never advertised - they learned it was for sale from a mutual friend that was a Mr Green franchisee.

Why buy an existing business?

Buying an existing business offered this couple the security of knowing the track history of the client base and that the client base was solid. This particular franchise was made up of contracts to clean a large Auckland school so they knew that once they felt confident with the work there would be the opportunity to grow the business.

What experience or personal traits did the team have?

Nilesh and Neetu had some experience in commercial cleaning so they wanted to capitalise on their skills and run a business they could call their own.  Nilesh worked (and continues to work) during the day for a business working as a handyman.  Neetu was working at a service station and gave up her job so she could work full time for Mr Green.

When we met this couple, we knew straight away they had what it took to run a successful business. They presented themselves well, were polite and respectful, easy to talk to, highly motivated and talked about the importance of communication and developing customer relationships. They also wanted to make a financial difference to their lives and the lives of their family and could see that owning their own business could help them do that.

The journey so far…

After the first 6 months, Nilesh and Neetu felt ready to take on some more clients and now they have one major client plus a range of smaller clients. They have taken opportunities when they have been presented and tackle challenges with a “that will not be a problem” attitude. They are also starting to diversify - they are starting to supply window cleaning services and have recently purchased a water blasting machine.

Skills they have developed and what they have learned…

Owning a business is hard but with hard work comes reward.

The team has learned to be:

  • Good listeners ( listening to their customers' feedback and acting on it)
  • Effective managers and employers of staff
  • Excellent communicators and responsive to the needs of their clients
  • They are not alone  - we as the Masters are there every step of the way providing support and guidance and the occasional helping hand.

Nilesh and Neetu are a fabulous addition to our Mr Green family and have loved being part of their journey in building up their own business and helping them get closer to some of their own personal wealth goals.

What Nilesh and Neetu have to say…

"Thanks to both of you, without your guidance we couldn't have done this work. From the first day we met you, you were so nice and kind and most of all you trusted us. We are so grateful to work with you."

Adrian & Manisha

How did the team get into owning a franchise?

Adrian and Manisha started out in Mr Green by initially helping their family members out by taking on a few of their smaller clients.  As more business came along, more business got passed their way.  Now, alongside their family's original business, they own one of Mr Green's most successful franchises.

Why start out small and build a business up slowly?

In one word - risk. Starting with a few cleaning contracts allows you to manage your financial risk. In a franchise you pay for the sole rights to a particular contract - fewer contracts or smaller contracts equals less financial risk.  It also allows you to take on what you can manage and build upon that as you learn what you can handle.

What experience or personal traits did the team have?

Adrian is a police officer by day and Manisha works in the health management service industry.  Straight away we could see the valuable interpersonal skills and hard work work ethic they brought with them. If they had a super power though - it would be communication. They know the value of communication and the power of building up trust in a relationship. Manisha is a self-professed “cleaning geek” and has the ability to look at a site from their client’s perspective.  The first thing she does when she enters a site is to ask herself the question “if I worked here what cleaning would make the most difference to me?” Adrian is an extremely hard worker with the ability to bring paper cleaning specifications to life in the most effective and efficient way.  He is also fantastic at building client relationships and will often stop in when he has time to check in with the team's clients to see if they are happy with their cleaning.

The journey so far…

In little over a year the team has gone from just a few clients to a full schedule of after hours cleaning clients. They have a diverse range of clients, from kindergartens to dental practices and have a personal goal to further develop the number of dental practices they clean for. At this stage they have not employed anyone but have made a number of hints to their family members currently living in Fiji to come and help them build their business. We think that is a great idea!

Skills they have developed and what they have learned…

Owning a successful cleaning business is more than providing excellent cleaning services, it is about developing open communication channels with your clients so they trust you.

The team has learned to be:

  • Excellent keepers of time and managing their cleaning workload on top of working full time
  • Excellent communicators and responsive to the needs of their clients
  • Skilled team players - working to each other’s strengths
  • They are not alone  - we as the Masters are there every step of the way providing support and guidance and the occasional helping hand.

Adrian and Manisha are such a trusted Mr Green team. They epitomise what it takes to be a Mr Green franchise team and we are enjoying watching them inch closer to realising their business goals and their own personal wealth goals..

What Adrian and Manisha have to say…

“We would like to thank Coram and Wayde for our journey with Mr Green. It has been smooth and amazing under their guidance. We have been able to have lots of open communication and through the exchanging of ideas our business has grown, as have we.”
